Mission & vision

Mission:  To provide access to quality and affordable guardian ad litem representation for children in private family court cases through legal advocacy and training.

Vision: The vision of the PCCLA is that all children will have access to meaningful participation and quality representation in private family court cases.

Appointment process

In order to effectuate our mission and vision, we contract with attorney Guardians ad litem in private family court cases to provide services based on the sliding scale fee structure set forth, below, based on each party's income.   The PCCLA must first receive an Appointment Order from the Family Court.  At that time, the PCCLA will reach out to the parties and/or counsel to complete an intake for the organization.  Once the intake is completed, the PCCLA will submit a more detailed appointment order to the Family Court appointing a specific attorney to serve.

Sliding Fee Scale per party:

<$30,000.00/year = $30.00/hour

<$40,000.00/year = $40.00/hour

<$50,000.00/year = $50.00/hour

<$60,000.00/year = $60.00/hour

<$70,000.00/year = $70.00/hour

<$80,000.00/year = $80.00/hour

<$90,000.00/year = $90.00/hour

Over $90,000.00/year = $100.00/hour

The retainer is based on ten hours of work per party.  Thus, if a party's individual rate is $30.00/hour, the retainer is $300.00.  This figure may be modified by the Court.

The fee cap is set by the Court.

education and training

In addition to contracting with attorney Guardians ad litem to serve in private family court cases on a sliding scale fee basis, we also provide education and training to Guardians ad litem with the hope of standardizing the investigation and reporting process and creating best practices for Guardians ad litem serving in these capacities.
